Land Use

Land Use

The Woodland Heights neighborhood is one of the oldest and most historic in Houston, Texas. It is comprised of over 60 subdivisions, the majority of which are protected by Deed Restrictions. For those of you who are not familiar with deed restrictions, these are the documents which help us preserve the residential character of our neighborhood.

Anyone who wants to build new structures or change existing structure in the neighborhood must conform to the deed restrictions. Unless a property was specifically opted out by filing with the county clerk's office during the statutory period, the property IS SUBJECT TO these deed restrictions.

For information regarding Minimum Lot Size or Minimum Building Line and to download the application(s) visit the City of Houston’s Planning & Development page.

Located within two miles from downtown Houston and just north of White Oak Bayou, the Woodland Heights is a community established during the early twentieth century by the William Wilson Realty Company.

In June of 2011 Woodland Heights Subdivision received Historic District designation from the City of Houston, thus preserving an architectural gem.

Germantown Historic District was approved on December 5, 2012.
